A legal practice with around 30 staff engaged DYN I.T. Solutions to modernise its technology and reduce its reliance on office-based servers. The business needed easier remote working, stronger security and continued access to historical case files. Through a staged transition to cloud services, centrally managed devices and updated communications, we helped support more flexible working. Regular stakeholder reviews kept delivery on track, while improved onboarding processes helped create a better experience for new starters.
We implemented Microsoft Entra and Microsoft Intune and began migrating devices to the new environment. Device management and enterprise security were rolled out across all devices, providing a more consistent approach to managing and protecting staff technology.
We implemented security features available within the practice’s Microsoft 365 environment. The uplift focused on strengthening its security posture and improving Microsoft Secure Score, rather than simply replacing ageing infrastructure.
Following the practice’s move to cloud-based practice management software, we migrated legacy file shares to SharePoint. Remaining case files were moved to cloud storage and archived, supporting the requirement to retain access to historical information.
We implemented a cloud-based phone system, alongside a managed firewall and network. These changes modernised the practice’s communications and network environment as part of the broader transition.
The practice wanted technology that better supported its staff, wherever they worked.
Its reliance on server-based systems meant remote access depended on VPN connections and office infrastructure. This added complexity for staff working from home or other locations and limited the flexibility the business wanted.
The practice was also seeking a more proactive approach to IT management and security.
Modernisation needed to protect continuity. Historical case files and other data had to remain accessible when required, and implementation needed to minimise downtime. Better coordination between IT and practice management support teams was another priority, along with more consistent onboarding, offboarding and implementation processes.
We took a staged approach to minimise downtime rather than attempting to change the entire environment at once.
Regular reviews with key stakeholders helped keep delivery on track and aligned with the practice’s operational requirements. These discussions provided an ongoing opportunity to review progress and coordinate the transition.
File migration and cloud-based archiving followed the move to cloud-based practice management software. This sequencing supported the broader shift away from legacy servers while keeping historical information within the project’s scope.
Alongside the technology changes, we focused on repeatable onboarding and delivery processes. This addressed the practice’s need for more consistent implementation and a smoother experience when new staff joined.
Staff can now work in the office and remotely with ease, supporting the flexibility the practice sought from the project.
Device management and enterprise security are now deployed across all devices, while legacy file shares and remaining case files have been moved to their cloud destinations.
Robust onboarding and delivery processes are also in place, helping new starters have a positive experience with their technology, and ensuring a consistent user experience for all staff.
Together, these changes have given the practice a more flexible working environment and a more consistent foundation for day-to-day IT operations and future needs.
